I have been experiencing very itchy skin on my thighs and base of my throat. I do not have dry skin. It started about the same time my hot flashed did. I've been having hot flashes for 6 weeks. I've gone to my internist twice and she is treating it like an allergic reaction and has put me on 2 rounds of prednesone and antihistmines. Is it possible my itchy skin is being caused by a drastic fall in estrogen? I would hate to be treating the wrong thing. I've been using natural progesterone for 8 years. Just started using natural estroil one week ago. Thank you.

It could well be low estrogen, if the prednesone and antihistamines haven't done anything i'd say it's definitely a possibility that it's estrogen related.

you said you just started taking natral estriol, that should help with the itching if it is indeed estrogen related.

there's so many causes of itching, and rashes are hard to distinguish. in fact, do you actually have a rash?
